Retinal detachment surgery in Cagin Eye Hospital
About the clinic
Cagin Eye Hospital is the largest private hospital for eye treatment in Turkey. Doctors of the Medical Center perform laser correction of vision, strabismus and cataract surgery, treat corneal diseases and injuries.
The Clinic applies the most modern ophthalmologic techniques — PRK, LASEK, LASIK, iLASIK, and corneal cross-linking (treatment of keratoconus without surgery). NASA approves the iLASIK technology for the astronauts' treatment.
380 foreign patients undergo eye treatment in Cagin Hospital annually.

ADVANTAGES OF CAGIN EYE CLINIC
- Modern ophthalmological equipment and treatment technologies. All operations at Cagin Hospital are carried out according to the international standards. Doctors use the latest laser techniques such as LASIK, LASEK, and a femtosecond laser to remove cataracts. These technologies allow doctors to conduct the procedure accurately and minimize the discomfort for a patient.
- The affordable prices for ophthalmologic services. International patients visit Cagin from Europe, Russia, and Arab countries. Treatment in the Clinic is cheaper than in the eye centers of Germany, Israel, and the United Kingdom.
- Package prices. The cost of operations includes such additional services as transfer and in-hospital stay.

KERATOCONUS TREATMENT CENTER
Keratoconus is a disease of the cornea when it becomes thinner and deformed. 500 patients with keratoconus undergo treatment in the Department annually.
Cagin ophthalmologists use such treatment methods as:
-
Implantation of the corneal ring
With the help of a laser, an ophthalmologist places transparent arcs in the eye. They stabilize the curvature of the cornea and stop the progression of the disease. Corneal rings are made of a biocompatible material that fits well in the eye.
Implantation of the corneal rings is recommended for patients in the early stages of the disease.
-
Corneal crosslinking
This is an innovative method of keratoconus treating. An ophthalmologist applies ultraviolet light and individual drops to strengthen the cornea. Firstly, doctors drip the riboflavin (vitamin B12), then they affect the corneal layer with ultraviolet radiation. The procedure takes about 30 minutes.
Corneal crosslinking
The operation is performed in patients with corneal impairments or keratoconus in the late stages. Cagin doctors use a donor cornea for transplantation.
Ophthalmologists apply lamellar keratoplasty, the most modern method of transplantation. This is a layer-by-layer replacement of only 1 damaged corneal layer. During the procedure, the healthy eye tissues are preserved.
CATARACT TREATMENT CENTER
Cataract surgery is a removal of the clouded lens and its replacement by an artificial one.
Cagin doctors apply phacoemulsification, a safe and minimally invasive method of cataract removal. An ophthalmologist makes a micro-incision on the eye using a laser, crushes the clouded lens and replace it with artificial one.
Advantages of phacoemulsification:
- accurate incision;
- the soft crushing of cataract by ultrasound;
- rapid healing of the eye compared to the open surgery.

LASER EYE CORRECTION CENTER
Doctors develop an individual treatment plan for vision correction based on the diagnosis and features of the eye. Ophthalmologists use such modern treatment options as:
Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK)
PRK is used to correct myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.
This technique is considered the most traumatic. During the procedure a doctor scrapes the upper epithelium of the eye. Healing process lasts 2-5 days.
During the PRK procedure, an ophthalmologist corrects the shape of the cornea with an excimer laser. Laser radiation changes the cornea curvature and returns patient’s normal vision.
LASEK eye surgery
LASEK vision correction is recommended for patients with a thin cornea.
With the help of a laser, a doctor makes an accurate incision on the upper layer of the eye and lifts it carefully. The laser beam acts directly on the cornea to give it the correct shape.
The procedure is painless. Normal vision returns to a patient in 7-10 days.
LASIK eye surgery
It is the most minimally invasive method of vision correction. During the LASIK eye surgery, doctors apply 2 lasers. The 1st laser forms a protective film on the eye and pushes back the top layer to access the cornea. The 2nd one affects the cornea and corrects its shape for the wright light refraction.
Recovery after the procedure is rapid. A patient may return to work and drive in 24 hours.
iLASIK eye surgery
This is an advanced LASIK technology that includes computer modeling of the operation. NASA has officially approved the iLASIK technique for astronauts' treatment.
