Day 1 - Arrival
- Arrive at the hospital.
- Complete hospital admission paperwork.
Day 2 - Pre-operation
- Consultation with thoracic surgeon and anesthesiologist.
- Perform blood tests, chest X-ray, and ECG.
- Undergo esophageal manometry and endoscopy if needed.
Day 3 - Surgery
- Undergo anesthesia.
- Resection of the esophagus procedure, lasting 3-6 hours.
- Transfer to ICU for close monitoring post-surgery.
Day 4-10 - Post-operation
- Removal of breathing tube when stable.
- Start on liquid diet once swallowing ability confirmed.
- Discharge planning with healthcare team.
Week 2-3 - Rehabilitation
- Gradual increase in physical activity.
- Follow-up appointment with surgeon.
Week 4-6 - Rehabilitation
- Return to work, depending on job nature and recovery progress.
Week 7-12 - Rehabilitation
- Resume light sports activities, if tolerated.
- Gradual return to regular diet.
Week 13-16 - Rehabilitation
- Full return to normal activities.
