Dinesh Kansal is a senior gynaecologist and head of the department of obstetrics and gynaecology at Dr Kapoor's BLK Hospital, New Delhi. She also heads the Gynae laparoscopic surgery department at the same hospital. Education Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (1980); Doctor of Medical Sciences and Master of Science in Natural Sciences (1984); Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynecology; title of Fellow of the team of doctors and surgeons of the Mumbai College. It was after graduating that Dr. Kansal became interested in the then-nascent field of minimally invasive surgery. She gained practical experience working with robotic laparoscopic surgery systems at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA. Dr. Kansal spent 26 years in private practice, which helped her gain extensive experience and hone her skills in particularly complex cases, and has performed over 11,000 successful surgeries using minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Dinesh Kansal is the Director of the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGIS) recognised training centre in advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery at Dr. Kapoor's BLK Hospital. Dr. Kansal has been a leader, guest speaker and panelist in many conferences and workshops both nationally and internationally. She has also trained doctors from all over India and has published in various scientific journals or participated in television discussions. Experience Dinesh Kansal has worked as the Head of Department at Shri Balaji Institute of Medicine, Minimally Invasive Surgeon at Batra Hospital and Centre for Medical Research, Karla Clinic and Bhatia Global Hospital, New Delhi. She has also worked at Cama & Albless Hospital and JJ Hospital, Mumbai. Area of specialization Trained at Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA). The doctor's special interests include advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, as well as fibroid myectomy (removal of fibrous tumors), treatment of ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancy, endometriosis, treatment of pelvic pain, in, sacrocolcopexy, colpocleisis against prolapse of the uterus or vaginal vault, urinary incontinence, gynecologic cancers, congenital malformations of the uterus and vagina, hysteroscopic surgery for uterine polyps, submucous myoma, Asherman's syndrome, transcervical resection of the endometrium, intrauterine septa, etc. Awards and achievements: National Award for Achievement in Surgery; International Award for the best video presentation of hysteroscopic surgery; Award for "Best Doctor" from New Delhi Medical Association.
