Overall I have to give the bookimed team a top rating
The staff at Bookimed from the initial off-set answered all my questions, queries promptly. I was nervous with feelings swaying about my treatment. Upon arrival in Turkey from the airport transfer onwards, I have got to say all doubts were a contrast as to what I witnessed and to the treatment I received. On the first day the hotel staff were welcoming by the way I stayed local to VMH University Hospital Istanbul Besyol, at a budget I chose the World Point Hotel 700 meters away (Ramada Hotel was even closer.) I'm not arguing with what I paid, hygiene, cleanliness, manners, availability of staff, room, I got and witnessed. The transfer to the Hospital l walked with my translator, who put all my nerves and questions I had to bed, I must say I felt alot better. On arrival I was astounded, the smell of freshness, clean, I had to ask the translator how many floors 9 was the reply, Big, busy different ethnicities different cultures, vast array of people from all parts of the world, I felt comfortable. The level of equipment, the Doctors, staff members would not go amiss in any Country. The treatment I received the interaction which you have with the Doctor was of great effect to me as the knowledge about my treatment gained was instrumental in what was to happen. Overall I have to give the bookimed team a top rating. I would recommend anyone who is thinking of surgery abroad of any kind to get in touch with them, I can assure you, you will not be disappointed. Thank you. Read more less

The doctor who performed my surgery, Alperen Koç, was outstanding
My Experience with Bookimed and VM Medical Park Hospital in Istanbul I recently had surgery in Turkey, and I must say, my coordinator Olya was an incredible professional. She was with me every step of the way, always available 24/7, a true angel! Thanks to her, I chose this hospital and Turkey instead of the Czech Republic. Olya’s support was crucial in my decision, and I’m forever grateful to her. Special thanks to our guide Said, who was always available, no matter the time of day or night. He helped resolve every issue between me and the clinic, providing a smooth experience throughout the process. The doctor who performed my surgery, Alperen Koç, was outstanding. From the initial consultation to the operation itself, everything went smoothly, quickly, and painlessly. He’s truly a high-level professional who’s there to treat patients rather than make money off them. I deeply appreciate all of his care and expertise. A week has passed since the surgery, and I feel good, though my vision hasn’t fully returned yet. However, this is normal, and I’m confident that it will improve over time. I can confidently recommend Bookimed and VM Medical Park Hospital in Istanbul. Cons: The main downside of my experience was with the hospital’s billing department. They requested payment in cash, but we were not informed about this before traveling to Turkey. If you want to pay by card, they charge a 20% commission, which is an unreasonably high fee. I’d also like to mention someone named Timur (I don’t remember his last name). In front of patients, he was speaking in Russian with a female colleague, assuming we didn’t understand the language. They said something like, “People are so stupid; it’s hard to work with such dumb people.” This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable in the presence of patients. Such conversations seriously undermine the clinic’s reputation and are inappropriate in a professional healthcare setting. Therefore, I strongly advise anyone planning a visit to clarify all financial and organizational details Read more less

I recommend bookimed
My husband and I traveled from New Zealand to both get eye lens replacement surgery. From the start we have had print and effient communication. With every question answered. We were picked up from the airport, taken to hotel, then the same day at our request taken to the hospital for our appointment. Two days later we were in having eye surgery again with pick ups and drop offs. We were met at the hospital entrance, by bookimed.com translators and hospital translators they were amazing every day, in every way. The doctors were provisional and onto it, explaining every detail, and answering all our questions. Our procedure went very well and we are very happy with the outcome and how amazing we can see, no longer with glasses or contacts. I recommend bookimed.com to everyone. Vikki Read more less

I was blown away by how professional and eager to assist the staff were
I had lens replacement and cataract surgery and was blown away by how professional and eager to assist the staff were. It was followed up by Bookimed a week later since Id returned home. They even refunded me some of my original payment even though I hadn't requested it as they found an error on the calculations. I know it's concerning to travel and have operations but from my experience you truly have nothing to worry about. I will definitely look at further surgery via this company and hospital. Highly recommended!
I enjoyed my time in the hospital. Despite some language barrier with the driver and Staff, everything went smooth. Really appreciate Wissam, his boss and the doctor. Wissam went above and beyond to make sure my journey was smooth. They arranged pick up from airport to hotel, and every trips from hotel to hospital and back. I do wish the staff would smile a bit and speak English a bit since it's an international hospital. The doctor was really open and honest with what he can and cannot fix, which I appreciate. Price similar to what was discussed, no hidden cost. Only 24 hours after the surgery I was already in blue mosque enjoying the view with no issue whatsoever. Highly recommended! Read more less

I had an extremely frustrating experience at the hospital . None of the staff spoke English, which made it nearly impossible to communicate my concerns and questions. To make matters worse, they refused to accept card payments, and instead, they provided third-party payment details, which raised a huge financial red flag for me. To add insult to injury, I was required to pay a deposit of $200 in cash, which I later found out was non-refundable. This is completely unfair and unacceptable. It left me feeling both financially and emotionally distressed, and I wouldn't recommend this hospital to anyone. Clear communication and fair payment practices are fundamental aspects of any healthcare facility, and this hospital failed miserably in both regards. In addition to the communication and payment issues, I must mention that the hospital was located in a completely unsuitable area for tourists. This made the overall experience even more distressing. Visitors to a foreign country expect medical facilities to be accessible and accommodating, but this hospital was situated in a place that made it extremely inconvenient and uncomfortable for travelers. It's an important factor to consider for anyone planning to visit the area and needing medical care. Read more less

My impressions of the trip were extremely positive. From the organisation of the trip with the manager Ekaterina, to the transfer to the airport. I had the operation on the day of my arrival. I was accompanied by an interpreter at all stages. The procedure itself was quick and painless. The attending doctor Dr İBRAHİM YAŞAR was very pleased. Competent specialist, pleasant and communicative. After the operation I had two more days for recovery. The ward was very comfortable and clean, the staff was friendly and attentive. 3 meals a day. In general, I can safely recommend this clinic for such procedures, the attending doctor and Bookimrd service.

I am very pleased that I made my choice and trusted the doctor, Professor Abdullah Ozkaya. It was this doctor who inspired confidence at our first meeting, was attentive, and answered all questions clearly and correctly. The clinic did not play any significance for me when choosing. Before that I was in 3 other clinics. But the doctors in those clinics did not inspire confidence in me. I think every person should find their own doctor. And a lot depends on the translator, how correctly he will translate everything. In other clinics, translators were incompetent. And of course, a big thank you to Anastasia, an employee of the Bookimed website ❤️

I really liked the entire organization of my treatment, starting with the search and offer of a clinic, the organization and coordination of the trip itself. The coordinator from Bookimed, Tatyana, was always in touch and answered all our questions on time. Upon arrival at the airport, we missed (through no fault of our own) the taxi that was supposed to take us to our already reserved hotel. But Tatyana was able to coordinate all the actions so that we easily got to the hotel. Later we called our medical coordinator from the “Veni Vidi” clinic, Olga, who was in touch with us all the time, both during the consultation with Dr. Firat HELVACIOGLU, and during treatment (keratoconus). Olga was ready to translate our conversation (Turkish-Russian languages) with the doctor, but since Doctor Firat speaks excellent English, in which it was more convenient for me to communicate, there was no need for translation. Overall, we are pleased with both the trip and the attitude of the medical staff towards us. We express our gratitude for all this to both Tatyana and Olga. But, as the Doctor informed us, the final results of the treatment will be clear in approximately three months, Alikhon Mamatov

Excellent experience. I traveled from Mexico to have cochlear implant surgery. First of all, I found this hospital thanks to the attention of Bookimed, they attended me very well, got the best option and started the whole process. At the beginning I was obviously a little bit afraid that everything was real and correct and with good results, it was the first time I used this kind of medical tourism. I searched many countries and options and found the best deal through Bookimed at Hisar Hospital in Istanbul at the best price. Now that it's all over, I am pleasantly surprised and grateful to everyone who took care of me. I am impressed with how well they have organized everything for international patients. From the transportation, to the airport-hotel-airport, hotel-hospital-hotel, in all the appointments I had, more than 3 times in two weeks. The international department assigned me one and sometimes two translators, all were very well behaved, Dr. Yabuz Selim very attentive and professional, the hospital was excellent, the package included two nights accommodation in a room with two rooms, and meals for patient and companion. Pre-operative studies, post-operative follow-up, and only the agreed amount was paid from the beginning, not a dollar more we had to pay. I had never had this experience in a hospital before. The whole procedure was fast and without complications, they checked me 3 more times without any problem. They helped me resolve all my doubts and concerns, always with excellent response through whatsapp. I sincerely recommend and thank everyone involved in Hisar Hospital. I hope I never have to go back, but if I need to, I will not even look elsewhere.

Everything went at the highest level. In the beginning, there were inconsistencies in the organization, which were immediately resolved for the benefit of the client, that is, me. Doctor of the aphthalmologist Belma Karini, I can only recommend, golden pens! The result of the operation exceeded all expectations not only of mine, but also of the doctor. Special thanks to the translator Dinara, she will not forget anything, she will organize everything, everything is clear and harmonious with her. The clinic is new, the wards are very clean and comfortable. I would say the Chambers are more like a luxury hotel suite. Everything in the shower glistens with towels, shampoos, etc. I RECOMMEND UNIFORMALLY !!!

Surgery in Turkey, I am 60 years old, and I travelled to Istanbul for a Deep Plane Facelift and a lower and upper Blepharoplasty. Bookimed, I am so grateful to you, I could not have made this journey without your assistance. Thank you very much for your guidance and patience. I hope I did not give you a hard time. Turkey is a safe place to travel, it is safer than Paris, Milan or Manhattan. I never felt in danger in Istanbul. From the moment I arrived at Lokman Hekim Hospital, everything was taken care of by Ismael Ali, who is an easy going and friendly translator. The pre-operative test were done as soon as I arrived. The day after I met Doctor Murat Yaman who is a friendly and open person. Before travelling to Istanbul I checked his background and found him to be a very good and competent surgeon. So, on that day I was relaxed for the surgery because I knew I was going to be in good hands. The work he did on me was outstanding. I am still in the healing process. My eyes are a bit irritated, but that is normal. My face is still a bit swollen but it no longer hangs. My face has changed expression from appearing to be sad or angry to reflecting a normal emotion. A big thanks to the Lokman Hekim Hospital staff some of them spoke a little bit of English others were fluent but all of them were caring, kind, super friendly and always ready to help.

Bookimed editorial policy

As the leading global medical tourism platform, we have huge responsibility before our clients — both patients and medical centers. All the information provided on Bookimed.com is grounded in research, foresight, and expertise and meets high interest related to the product and follows:

Smart automatic ranking system

We form our listings of clinics and doctors with strict regulations of our smart automatic ranking system. The system is based on real Bookimed patient rates to provide the most objective and transparent information about clinics and medical services there.

Our experienced data scientist collects data daily, monitors and optimizes the ranking system using machine learning and artificial intelligence to ensure that the ranking system is up-to-date and provides accurate results.

Real people's experience only

We collect the opinions of Bookimed clients only after getting medical experience with the clinic — so everyone on the platform can trust the facility they choose. We strive to make the content on our platform as useful as possible and ensure the freedom to express critical opinions. Thus, we publish positive and negative reviews, aiming at being a source for informed decision-making for our future clients.

Topics with high levels of expertise, authority, and trustworthiness

On Bookimed.com you may find choice and convenience to find the best medical solutions from top medical services providers just in one place, and often at competitive prices. Making sure to deliver the freshest information, the clinic’s representatives update doctors’ CVs, clinics’ capacities, before-after pictures, prices, packages, and specials by themselves shortly. You may meet the clinic’s representative and check the date of updated content at every clinic’s page to make sure of its trustworthiness.

Our blog and supportive pieces are created by professional authors with at least 3-year experience in medical writing and edited by medical specialists with relevant clinical and research expertise — all carefully recruited to the team. We strive to enhance patient access to health information, making it expert but easy to understand. All pieces follow the Bookimed’s Editorial Guidelines.
