The room is not large, the sofa is very small and hard for an accompanying person to sleep very badly. The air conditioner does not work well, my husband bought a fan for me, the windows do not open at all, the screws are twisted, I have not seen this before. I departed for my procedure on Friday night to have it done on Saturday morning 20th January. Up until the moment I booked my flight - the communication from Bookimed was on point, but straight after I sent them my booking confirmation, I didn't hear anything from anyone. So on the day of departing, I still had no confirmation for the hotel, transfer, etc. and had to keep chasing for the information. Not a good start obviously, for someone who is leaving their home for a medical procedure abroad! When I arrived in Istanbul airport around 5 am - I had to wait a good 40 minutes for my transfer, although sending all my flight information and being told that the driver was going to be there waiting for me. Incorrect. The hotel room was ok- no soap, shampoo or working phone, (which was not good at all, as I couldn't ring for any assistance after during my whole stay). Initially I was given a twin room, although being on my own so had to ask to change it to a double bedded room. The receptionist was hesitant, but then did it after I insisted. On the day of the procedure- it was really messy! I got to the hospital and wasn't sure where to go, because no instructions were given to me beforehand of what to expect, dos and don'ts... absolutely nothing! Then once they got someone to meet me, everything was all very rushed! Different individuals came by, which I did know who they were as they didn't really introduce themselves... to make me sign for different things, one of them being a disclosure for going through a general anesthetics, which I had no idea was going to take place as no one had ever mentioned! That was my first shock as I had travelled abroad, not knowing I would have been under sedation during the procedure. I didn't prepare myself mentally for that and was really annoyed I was not warned in advance, as that in itself carries its own risks. Anyway, the worst came afterwards, once the procedure had been done- I felt really weak, in severe pain (in my stomach) and extremely nauseous. Again, I couldn't understand why I was in so much pain as I was not warned nor given any information beforehand. So all an unpleasant surprise. The nursing staff were nice, but couldn't' speak English. I felt rushed out of my room as they made it clear it was time for me to go, by making signs and leaving the door open! But I was in no condition to go yet, as I wasn't well! The nutritionist came really quickly and rushed the information to me. She left without even leaving her contact details should I have any questions or for any aftercare. Then another guy came along to to give me the medication to take with me, which I had to pay for , again not expecting it as I thought all was included, I was told again to go. I asked if anyone was meeting me to go over the final things- he said no. Wow. I could not believe it. It was just like: okay, we have your money now, you've got your balloon- off you go! Ciao! I was just appalled, upset and really scared actually, because I felt really unwell and there was no one there to assist. To conclude, I walked back to the hotel alone with a lot of struggle. Went up to my room, with no working phone and stayed there for the rest of that day and the following day vomiting and with cramps in my stomach, alone. I have not once heard from the medical team/ hospital once or anyone other than the Bookimed booking team to leave my review, so here I am leaving my review. I don't normally write reviews at all as they are so time consuming... but on this instance I really felt I ought to on this occasion due to my awful experience and to warn people of the potential consequences. Maybe, I was just unlucky... but please think about it twice before giving your money away to these people and only go there if you really have no other alternative! My pain has subsided slightly, but the pain is still present almost two weeks after having the balloon inserted. and the vomiting also, so I will need to go to A&E over the weekend to get myself checked out properly as I have no medical team advising me or providing any form of after care. I am really scared. Would I recommend Bookimed/ Hisar Hospital ? Absolutely, 100%, No!

On the recommendation of Bookimed, I underwent a medical examination at the Anadolu Medical Center (Turkey). Why did you choose the Anadolu clinic? Because it was the only clinic recommended to me by Bookimed that responded very quickly to my requests, and only this clinic developed and sent me a program for my examination. Two other clinics, such as Medipol, limited themselves only to gratitude that I contacted them, and the Şişli Memorial clinic remained silent until the end without any feedback. I personally became convinced of this at the stage of choosing a clinic, when I got acquainted with the equipment of many clinics. At first I was really nervous and I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into - I just knew I had to do something about the weight I had gained and let me tell you, my experience exceeded my expectations!! The team are AMAZING at what they do. The nurse, Madina, is absolutely phenomenal and has such a beautiful soul who genuinely cares about you physically, mentally and emotionally. The nutritionist, Nur, is such a realist and incredible at what she does, she is so informative and explains everything you need to know thoroughly. And finally the surgeon, Dr Kaplan Baha Temizgonul, is undoubtedly such a genuine man who guides and supports you throughout the process as well as answers any questions you may have regarding the surgery and aftercare. He is 100% amazing at what he does and ensures you feel comfortable the entire time. The communication is great, even when you fly back as you can always express any concerns you may have and they’ll deal with it accordingly. The pain after surgery only lasted a few hours and got better and better with the care of the wonderful hospital staff. I don’t think I would’ve felt as cared for if it weren’t for the staff. If you are interested, you NEED to go to Dr Baha as he is the best in the industry. I’m 100% convinced you won’t get a better service elsewhere. My review is positive, because in Medipole I managed to get vital medical care. Before that, my condition was serious, because in fact I felt bad every day for many years. In the morning I could not wake up for several hours, during the day I was hampered by a weakness with which I could not cope, in the evening and at night there was severe insomnia. In this state, I could not lead a normal life. This is a very brief, brief description of my condition, which I have had for about the past 15 years, a detailed list of symptoms may take more than one leaf, and I decided not to describe it. In 2015, I decided to get tested in Russia, and I approached him very seriously. I visited several dozens of different doctors, described my condition in detail, and asked for help. It took the Turkish doctors three days to find the cause of my problems: this is a severe vitamin D deficiency. The therapist Derya Argun helped me, she was able to name the cause of the problems and prescribe an analysis for vitamin D in a few minutes. When the analysis revealed the cause, I immediately began to correct vitamin D. And my condition changed. I began to feel as good as I had not felt for many years. I had trouble sleeping, weakness and my well-being completely changed. Now I can get up at 6 am, I can feel normal all day, I can fall asleep in less than one hour. I have been following my condition for two weeks, and the result is stable. In fact, I feel so good, like I was reborn. And I was given precise recommendations on how and how many months to take vitamin D, how often to monitor its amount in the blood, so I know what I need to do next.     In the additional part of the review I will write other details of my trip. When I flew out of Moscow, I had an assumption that the cause of the problem was a disease of the digestive organs, so on the first day I first went for an examination by a gastroenterologist. For a plausible review, it should be noted that there is a noticeable drawback in the organization of Medipol’s work - the work of the doctors is accompanied by haste, vanity, and disorganization. Transfer from the hotel once was half an hour late. Before the trip, we agreed that I would go to a gastroenterologist. But when I arrived, at first the lady did not accept me for more than an hour, and then left the office, and without a word took another patient, although I had already paid money for the consultation and waited more than an hour. The translator suggested going to another doctor. I specially pre-printed my list of symptoms on a sheet and told the translator that I needed a literal translation, and the translator removed some phrases from my text without warning, as I was in a hurry. And this tendency to do everything quickly is negative. I had an abdominal ultrasound scan, but the results that I was given did not indicate any size of the gallbladder (number in millimeters) or other organs. The doctor then explained to me that they have many patients, and therefore they do not write detailed characteristics in the conclusions, but simply confine themselves to words like "parameter normal". That is, the documents with the results contain little information. I did a gastroscopy, but when I asked to give me the results of the research on a flash drive (video), they refused. Instead, I printed on paper six photos from the endoscope. Therefore, it is necessary to recognize that in Medipol sometimes not the most modern technologies are used. To the gastroenterologist, I am grateful that he referred me to the therapist Derya Argun, and this is the main thing. But nevertheless, because of the fuss, I could not discuss my health with him in detail, but ideally this possibility should be.      As for my coordinator, Dmitry Belik, I am generally pleased with his work, but I can only say that I have lost contact with him lately, because, according to Dmitry, he has a lot of work. I would like the connection with the medical coordinator to be stable.     These are the main details of my trip to Medipol for treatment. As I said, my trip was definitely a success, dramatically changed my life for the better, and I am very pleased with it.
