During the early part of Dr. Abu’s career, he had worked as Specialist Registrar and as Senior House Officer in OBGYN in the UK as well.As for Dr. Jafaru Abu’s educational background; he was a brilliant academic performer throughout his studies and qualified in the profession with excellent undergraduate and post-graduate medical qualifications. He was one of the first gynecologists in the UK to perform Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS), a “scarless” procedure.Dr. Abu is also well known for performing extensive surgery for advanced stages of ovarian cancer and led the Department of Gynecological Oncology at Nottingham University Hospital, UK, to become an Accredited Advanced Ovarian Cancer Cytoreductive Surgical Centre by The European Society of Gynecological Oncologists (ESGO). He was the Head of Gynecological Oncology at Nottingham University Hospitals, UK, until he joinedthe VPS Healthcare. Committed to the training of other consultants, he established the Annual Nottingham Advanced Laparoscopic Training Course for gynecology consultants across the United Kingdom in 2008 where he trained and mentored other consultant colleagues as well as Senior Trainees to acquire the skills needed for safe advanced laparoscopic surgery in women.
