I would like to share my positive impression of the clinic and bookimed.com. First of all, I was pleasantly surprised by the speed of the examination - all procedures were organised quickly and clearly, without long waits. The clinic is equipped with modern equipment, which inspires confidence and gives confidence in the accuracy of diagnosis. I would like to emphasise the responsiveness and professionalism of the staff. Each employee showed attention and care, which made the treatment process much more comfortable. A pleasant addition was the work of interpreter Gulnara and coordinator Zahida - it greatly facilitated communication with doctors and understanding of all stages of examination. I would also like to express my gratitude for the transfer and the work of the driver, which helped to save time and eliminated the need to think about the road. In general, the best impressions were left. Many thanks to the whole team of the clinic for the high level of service and human attitude!

From the minute I was inquiring about an appointment through to an entire 2 hours of tests, I felt completely taken care of. Being in a foreign country where it’s not your first language can be daunting when needing healthcare. My healthcare navigator Leen was so wonderful. She brought me to each doctor or department, got me situated and was also my translator. She was kind, compassionate & so incredibly helpful. I was incredibly grateful to have her by my side. I saw Dr. Bassols who was incredibly warm, knowledgeable and put my fears at ease. The other technicians were also wonderful and caring. I highly recommend the staff and care I received at Centro Medico Teknon and the team from bookimed that connected me to them. Thank you everyone!!

Glioblastoma treatment is conducted involving specialists from the Radiology, Oncology, and Neurosurgery Departments. The best treatment for glioblastoma is developed only after the complete diagnostics which allows detecting tumor size, its location, and level of metastatic spread.

Basing on the diagnosis, the team of doctors prescribes treatment. The primary option is surgery (removal of glioblastoma). During the operation, a patient is under general anesthesia. All the processes are controlled by neuronavigation to avoid wrong movements. After the surgery, a patient stays in the intensive care unit.

Chemotherapy and radiotherapy are also assigned when a tumor is inoperable or to destroy malignant cells after or before surgery. They can be performed on the outpatient basis. The duration of treatment depends on the tumor size and patient health condition.

The clinic is good. Doctors too, but the prices are very expensive. From the beginning, the coordinator and translator do not say that they have service packages. I found out about this by accident. Immediately upon payment, ask for a receipt and you will know exactly what and how much you have to pay for. On my first visit, it was the translator who told the cashier a different amount, but it turned out that the amount there was much less. It was precisely because of this that I asked Bookimed to change both the translator and the coordinator. Be carefull. I am very grateful to the Bookimed company, they are experts in their field, especially Marina, I can write to her at any time, she will gladly answer and help me. It was she who brought me to this clinic and she, through representatives, found out how much I appreciated the treatment. Although this was the coordinator's job. The coordinator was not there to help or pick up the phone at all and didn’t even answer lately. Apparently I didn’t like the fact that I already understood everything perfectly well. I don’t know the price of finding out this is something secret, I don’t know the permanent answer. They know everything very well and it has turned into a business. Pay the money and immediately get a check from the financial department. Also, if you have dollars, ask for the exchange rate in lira. Their rate in the database is different.

Hello everybody. Thanks to the Clinic for a successful operation. To the Neurosurgeon Mustafa Onaz and Professor Gohan. We are diagnosed with Brain cancer, the last stage, malignant. The tumor was twice as large. They saved my husband's life. Masha Allah. The operation was 8-9 hours. they deleted everything, I consider this a record. It was a difficult operation. Well done. At our KZ they could not remove everything that was, only a small part was removed and that's it. I bow to you. At the expense of the clinic. Service At the Highest Level. Specialists at Sourasky apply glioblastoma treatment basing on the results after the complete diagnostics.

Surgery is the primary method to treat glioblastoma. If possible, the operation is conducted starting with craniotomy (access to the tumor through the incision in the skull). The team of doctors carries out the surgical intervention under control of neuronavigation system to make movements more precise.

A patient stays for 2 days in the intensive care unit. Rehab period lasts the following 5-10 days.

Doctors prescribe surgery, radio- and chemotherapies or their combination for glioblastoma treatment. The radiosurgery is conducted on the TrueBeam Stx system. It provides the high accuracy of irradiation on the tumor.

The number of chemo- and radiotherapy cycles and their duration are determined individually.

Good day! During this treatment, I was only twice in this medical center, both times in the laboratory for blood donation, I waited 1 hour for the first time, 30 minutes for the second time, despite the fact that there was no visitor except me. All other actions, including the consultation of the doctor, were not in this clinic, so it is difficult for me, based on the foregoing, to make a different assessment. Also about the doctor. I was given the wrong doctor who was originally declared. I do not know anything about the current attending physician, please provide the data whenever possible. The doctor's conclusion, by the way, was also not carried out on Ichilov’s form — on a regular sheet and contains not the appointments that were made as a result, the doctor’s explanation of the side effects of the drugs (but I was going there, because your specialist said medicine without side effects and this was the key for me), appointed in the end and containing quite strong side effects.

Very pleased with the attitude towards patients. The staff was polite and courteous. They responded quickly to all my needs. They suggested the best alternative treatment and were very tactful during the operation. The operation was done under local anaesthesia, and painkillers have very little effect on me, but the doctor was very sensitive and understanding of my condition and patiently waited and increased the dose of anaesthesia until the action started. And during the whole operation constantly asked about my condition and even on small reactions of pain, which were reflected apparently in my face immediately responded. And the assistants (nurses) were close by, giving emotional support. I would especially like to mention the attitude of the interpreter Rabia, who was always in touch with me throughout my stay and answered at any time of the day, despite the workload I saw. This is very human of her when you don't know anything and don't know the language. I would like to thank the clinic and all the medical staff for the help provided and for the sensitive attitude towards each client.

Nobody offered us a ward, and if we offered we couldn’t pay it, it’s about 500 dollars a day, the doctors’ approach is good, but I think we should warn the patient about his future expenses and give an alternative for treatment because he’s not ready for such expenses, thereby putting people in an awkward position by themselves, the procedures are very expensive or perhaps it seems to us expensive because we did not quite think about their prices like that. I think when you come to this clinic with a complex form of the disease, you need to have a good wallet, now I don’t have enough pills for treatment because it costs more than $ 1,700, I don’t have that much money, you know what to do after that. Maybe I'm complaining off topic, but it touched me during treatment, it would be nice if the clinic has its own hotel at a more affordable price. We counted on a week and stayed for a month. This is the fee for the room, this is the food for additional expenses that were not considered. Well, something like this, and no one cares about our capabilities.

We got to the MEMORIAL clinic due to an urgent diagnosis. The successful outcome of the operation depended on promptness. The question was about days. The operation was carried out the next day. The most difficult operation according to the Whipple method. Conducted by professor, head of surgery. Low bow to him. The entire staff of the department works perfectly, promptly responds to any request. Separately, I want to say about the work of the translator Aida. High qualification, operational work at any time of the day, sincerity - only a small description of her qualities. Special thanks for providing meals to the patient and accompanying person. The cuisine is very tasty, in some positions it is better than homemade. I enjoyed the vegetarian cuisine. But there is a different one. A low bow to all the staff of the clinic. They saved my husband's life.

I, Temirbek Ormotoev came from Kyrgyzstan, I chose Florence Nightingale Hospital which was helped by bookimed company and the staff of this company liked me, especially I am happy to deal with Professor Ahmet-Tunch Ozdemir. Today is the 3rd day after the operation performed by Prof Ahmet-Tunç Ozdemir. The operation was done wonderfully, I am satisfied and also the hospital conditions and medical staff were top notch, everyone is polite to the patients, especially the head nurse and nurse Linhai were very good at patient care. Why did I choose Florence Nightingale specifically? Because this hospital is one of the advanced hospitals in Turkey and there is a DaVinci robotised system. I have a neoplasm in my kidney over 30 mm. Prof Ahmet-Tunç Ozdemir performed the operation within 1.5 hours and he has golden hands. Dear readers, if anyone wants to be treated abroad, come specifically to Florence Nightingale and find Prof Ahmet-Tunç Ozdemir and you will not go wrong with your choice. I was discharged on the second day after surgery, I feel great and recovery is underway. In terms of the cost of paying for the surgery, compared to other clinics in Turkey, it is realistic and inexpensive. Mr Ahmet-Tunc Ozdemir, my family and I wish you good health, longevity, good luck in everything and that you stay for a long time saving patients from various diseases, Allah help you. I am also grateful to the medical coordinators of bookimed platform, Liana, who from the very beginning until today accompanies and helps with treatment abroad and assistants named Alisher, translator Aigerim, who know their business professionally. Thank you all who helped me with this situation, Allah bless us all.

My name is Sergey, I am undergoing treatment at the oncology department of the Nordwest Clinic in Frankfurt am Main. I would like to note the high professional level of doctors, the technical equipment of the clinic at the proper level. I want to express special gratitude to Professor Elka Yeager, senior doctor Kiselichki, Dr. Weber, the highest level of professionalism, are very friendly and attentive, the junior staff are smart, everything is super, I’m very pleased with the treatment, if not for one “but” ... Because of ignorance language had to contact the company "Phoenix Service", which is an intermediary for the provision of medical services, led by Radislav. My communication with them began with the fact that before arrival they demanded a significant prepayment, which was timely transferred to their account. After arriving at the clinic, I had to transfer money several times, rather big money. I persistently asked the company’s employees to conclude an agreement with me on the provision of services by Phoenix Service, in order to specifically understand which services and for what specific payment the services will be provided. However, no contracts, as well as invoices with prices, were provided to me, which directly testifies to dishonesty. Only two months later I received the clinic’s bills (with which I completely agree) and separately a bill from Phoenix Service for the services rendered, after viewing which there were simply no words ... As it turned out, being treated in Germany was not expensive, it was expensive to pay for the services of Phoenix invoiced, which either didn’t turn out at all, or turned out to be in the wrong amount and at very high prices. I tried to talk with the head of the company Radislav, saying that I did not agree with the bill, to which I received the answer "if something does not suit you, you can refuse our services further." I officially wrote an appeal to the clinic about the detachment from this dishonest company, to which I received a positive response. He also wrote an official letter to Phoenix with a request to review the account, to which he still has not received an answer. I want to warn everyone who is in my position, those cancer patients who sell everything in order to pay for treatment and live on, but these “phoenixes” don’t stop at anything to enrich themselves at their expense.

She sent for PET / CT revision made at the Korean clinic Severance Hospital, because Severance made a very dubious short description, more like an unsubscribing. I chose Liv Hospital, assistant Bookimed Alexei and assistant Liv Hospital Lala all organized perfectly, data exchange by e-mail, payment at a reasonable price, three days and the description is ready, done well, in detail and clearly. Bookimed coordinator Aleksey Karaganov is a very caring and highly qualified specialist who helped with the consultation and discussion of the diagnosis.

I was not in the hospital. I asked just a second opinion. I was very disappointed, because I was working a lot to translate all the documentation into English, and finally I was discussing with doctor only 10 minutes, and the level of the discussion was very poor. Practically I did not get anything for 400 EUR.

Reply from Professor Johaness Drach:
Second opinion is given on the basis of a thorough analyses of provided medical reports. The procedure lasts as long until all questions of the patient have been clarified. If necessary specialists of other disciplines are also involved. The patient always receive a written statement.

He is extremely impressed with the quality of medical care, the attention of professors Daniel Shuval, Alan Bloom, Ayal Hubert and their colleagues. He is grateful for the care of him. We had the opportunity to choose treatment in 5 leading hospitals in the world. And we are glad that by choosing HADASS we made the best and the right choice. Because this hospital has world-class medical care. But this would not have happened if it had not been for the wonderful organization and work of the specialists from the International Department who have been helping us all the time. With all my heart I thank everyone who helped and continues to help Pavel Kalchev in his fight against cancer. I wish all HADASS specialists health. Health for their families. I went to Turkey for diagnostics at the Istinye clinic, there are many impressions and, unfortunately, they are not very good. To begin with, the clinic itself is good and the equipment is also at the level, everything went quickly and waited for the result. Because quarantine began in Turkey, flew home, and here it began, although the coordinators promised to keep in touch with me. In short, they discouraged all the desire to go there again and do the operation there! Because it all depends on your coordinator and translator. They only work well with people who pay a lot and no questions asked. I do not advise you to go there, just because everything is decided not by the doctor, but by the coordinator, he even provides you with the prices !!!! There is only one negative left !!!!

Expert Overview about Glioblastoma Treatment

What Are the Primary Treatments for Glioblastoma?

brain tumor research

Multiple therapies can be used alone or in combination, depending on the patient’s condition and the specifics of the tumor. A multifaceted approach is crucial in treating brain tumors to ensure comprehensive care.

  • Surgery (resection of glioblastoma) is often the first line of attack, aiming to remove as much of the glioblastoma as possible to decrease tumor burden and improve the effectiveness of other treatments.

Advancements in brain tumor surgery techniques, such as minimally invasive methods, allow for the removal of certain tumors without the need for opening the skull.

  • Laser ablation (minimally Invasive). For tumors in deep or delicate areas, laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) is a safer alternative. Centers offering this technique create a small opening and use laser heat to destroy cancer cells. It’s ideal for patients who are not candidates for open surgery.

  • Radiation therapy (Gamma Knife Radiosurgery) offers targeted radiation treatment that focuses high-intensity gamma rays on the tumor with precision, sparing healthy brain tissue.

  • Chemotherapy involves the use of drugs to target and kill cancer cells. These drugs can be administered in various forms, including orally, intravenously, or implanted biodegradable wafers. Standard drugs like temozolomide (TMZ) are often combined with other therapies.

  • Targeted therapy uses drugs or other substances to identify and attack specific cancer cells without harming normal cells. Drugs like bevacizumab (Avastin) target specific cancer growth factors, slowing tumor progression.

👉Around 41.3% of patients live beyond the first year after diagnosis, and 4.1% reach five years, showing the impact of advances in treatment.

  • Immunotherapy employs the body’s immune system to fight the tumor, enhancing its ability to detect and destroy cancer cells.

  • Tumor treating fields (TTFields) use electric fields tuned to specific frequencies to disrupt cancer cell division in glioblastoma.

  • Brachytherapy. Internal radiation therapy is where radioactive materials are placed directly in or near the tumor.

✅The treatment plan often involves a multidisciplinary approach, which includes a team of specialists from various fields.

👉The best-known treatment approach since 2005 combines surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy with temozolomide (TMZ).

The plan starts with an accurate diagnosis through imaging tests like MRI, functional MRI, or genetic testing.

What Happens After Glioblastoma Treatment?

1. Monitoring for recurrence. Regular scans, such as functional MRIs and PET scans, help detect any signs of tumor regrowth, ensuring early intervention.

Science is progressing in finding better treatments to help patients manage this challenging condition.

Ongoing support and monitoring are crucial for brain cancers, including glioma and glioblastoma, to address both physical and emotional challenges faced by survivors.

👉The NovoTTF device (Optune), approved by the FDA in 2011, has shown promise for patients with recurrent glioblastoma. A study found that patients using NovoTTF lived for a median of 20 months after the tumor returned. On average, patients experienced no disease progression for about 4.2 months, with 43% remaining progression-free after 6 months.

Government or Nonprofit Aid In certain cases, countries offering affordable medical tourism may provide subsidies or programs that lower costs by up to 50% for international patients seeking cancer care.

💡Even without insurance, patients booking treatment abroad through Bookimed may find the overall cost significantly lower—by up to 70%—compared to treatment in their home countries, thanks to the affordability of top-tier medical centers in destinations like Turkey, Mexico, and Eastern Europe.

Why Is Glioblastoma Treatment Cheaper Abroad?

Several factors explain why international glioblastoma treatment centers offer care at lower costs without compromising quality:

1. Lower labor costs. In Turkey and Thailand, healthcare professionals earn up to 70% less than those in the U.S. This directly lowers the cost of key treatments, including surgery at a GBM hospital and other procedures.

2. Reduced operational expenses. Countries like Mexico have a 50% lower cost of living than the U.S., reducing operational costs at the best glioblastoma treatment centers.

3. Government subsidies. Countries like Turkey offer government support that lowers glioblastoma treatment cost by 20-30%. At the same time, ensuring patients receive care at glioblastoma best hospitals.

4. Lower insurance and litigation costs. In regions like Poland and the Czech Republic, lower malpractice insurance premiums50-70% less than U.S. rates—reduce overall costs.

5. With high patient volumes and specialization, top glioblastoma treatment centers abroad often treat thousands of patients, improving efficiency and reducing costs through economies of scale.

6. Medical tourism investments. Countries focusing on medical tourism, such as Spain, Mexico, and Thailand, have invested in state-of-the-art technology and partnerships with international programs. These glioblastoma treatment centers offer personalized care plans at 70% lower prices than in the U.S. or Western Europe.

✅Cost-effective packages provide comprehensive care, including surgery, hospital stay, and follow-up, reducing overall expenses by up to 50-70%.

How to Choose the Right Treatment Center for Brain Tumor Treatment?

1. Specialization in brain tumors. Select centers with dedicated neuro-oncology programs, such as those focusing on primary brain tumors, glioblastoma tumors, and complex cases involving skull base or spine tumors.

2. Experienced medical teams. Look for neuro-oncologists and surgeons trained at institutions like Heidelberg University (Germany), Erasmus Medical Center (Netherlands), or Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic (U.S.). Many specialists actively participate in global events like the World Federation of Neuro-Oncology (WFNO) and the European Association of Neuro-Oncology (EANO), ensuring they apply the latest advancements in glioblastoma care.

3. Advanced treatment options. Top centers offer precision treatments like Gamma Knife radiosurgery, tumor treating fields (Optune device), and proton therapy. Targeted therapies are also available, focusing on specific genetic mutations in glioblastoma tumors, helping to reduce damage to healthy brain tissue.

👉A recent study showed that older glioblastoma patients may benefit from short-course proton beam therapy with advanced imaging. After 12 months, 56% of participants were alive, with a median survival of 13.1 months, and some patients with favorable tumor genetics survived longer, with a median of 22 months.

medical oncologists stats

4. Access to clinical trials.

Leading institutions, including those listed in the NIH Clinical Trials Database, provide access to experimental therapies like new targeted drugs and immunotherapy trials.

5. State-of-the-art technology. Choose centers equipped with modern surgical tools like intraoperative MRI, functional MRI, and awake craniotomy, which help improve the precision and effectiveness of tumor resection.

💡 Centers equipped with intraoperative MRI allow real-time imaging during surgery, improving precision and outcomes.

6. International accreditation. Centers accredited by organizations like Joint Commission International (JCI) meet global standards for patient safety and high-quality care.
