Dr. Martin Schindl is a senior consultant at the University Hospital of Surgery, Vienna General Hospital. He specializes in surgery of the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, and bile ducts. He also focuses on surgical cancer therapy. Dr. Schindl leads the surgical outpatient clinic for pancreatic and biliary diseases. He coordinates the interdisciplinary pancreatic cancer group at the Comprehensive Cancer Center Vienna.
He founded the ABCSG Pancreas Working Group. Dr. Schindl reviews articles for international surgical journals. He is a member of several national and international surgical societies. He also serves on the ethics committee of the Medical University of Vienna. Dr. Schindl has made important contributions to cancer therapy research and patient support programs.
After studying at the medical faculty of the University of Vienna, Professor Schindl worked at the University Hospital of Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna. The professor is the senior consultant in the clinical department of general and abdominal surgery at the University Hospital of Surgery at the Vienna General Hospital. Since 2010, Schindl has been in charge of a special surgical outpatient clinic for diseases of the pancreas and biliary tract and coordinates an interdisciplinary group for the treatment of pancreatic cancer at the Center for Comprehensive Cancer Treatment at the Medical University of Vienna. He is one of the founders of the ABCSG (Austrian Breast and Colorectal Cancer Research Group) Pancreas Working Group.Schindl works as a reviewer in international surgical journals and was a member of the editorial board of the World Journal of Surgery. He is also a member of numerous national and international specialized societies and a member of the ethics committee of the Medical University of Vienna. As a member of the Scientific Advisory Board, he has supported the self-help group for pancreatic cancer in medical and therapeutic matters since its inception and plays a key role in the patient research program and the related seminar “Pancreatic Tumors”.
