Born in Ankara in 1978, Dr. Umut R. Gündüz began his medical career at the Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine.

Later, he became a General Surgery Specialist at Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital.

From 2011 onwards, they worked as a General Surgery Specialist at Antalya Training and Research Hospital.

In 2018, they became a Clinical Education Instructor. Dr. Umut Rıza Gündüz primarily focused on metabolic, breast, endocrine & other general surgeries.

In 2021, they worked as both a manager and a physician in the General Surgery department at Özel Termessos Hospital.

Surgical Experience

After becoming a general surgery specialist in 1996, I served as a General Surgery and Organ Transplantation Specialist at SSK (social insurance institution), for a period of 9 years. In 2005, was granted the title of Associate Professor-General Surgery. Between 2005 and 2012, I established the kidney transplant centers in İzmir Private Kent Hospital, Istanbul Private Gaziosmanpasa Hospital, and Medicalpark Goztepe Hospital respectively, and served as the chief executive of these centers.

I have worked in İzmir Private Kent Hospital since 2013. I established Obesity Clinic at Gazi Hospital, and performed more than 200 gastric reduction operations.

Social Responsibility

I have worked in the management boards of many associations engaging in scientific and social activities, and served as a founding member in some of them.

The most important one of these is that I have served as a coordinator in the project intended for providing 150.000 elementary school students and 5,000 adults with training on organ donation, for a period of 10 years, through various social activities.1

Dr. Volkan Tümentemur is a General Surgery specialist. He completed his medical degree in English at Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Medicine in 2005. He is known for his advanced surgical skills and dedication to patient care.

Dr. Tümentemur has performed many successful surgeries. He is recognized for achieving high patient satisfaction. He works with top medical institutions and regularly updates his knowledge through ongoing training in general surgery.

Assoc. Dr. Ali DURMUŞ was born in the Fevzipaşa township of İslahiye, Gaziantep. Because his father worked at Tekel, he started his education at Malatya Derme Primary School and completed it at Adıyaman Atatürk Primary School. When his father was appointed to Amasya Taşova district, he attended secondary school at Taşova Atatürk Secondary School. He finished high school at Gaziantep Kilis High School, ranking 3rd.

Since his uncle was in Çanakkale, he chose Çanakkale Education Institute as a university. Assoc. Prof. Dr. is a teacher. Ali Durmuş was appointed to Yukarı Tutak village in Ağrı's Diyadin district within the scope of compulsory service. After working as a teacher for a period, he took the university exam again.

He was accepted to Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, one of the two medical faculties that taught in English at that time. He completed one year of English preparation and 6 years of medical education without any loss. He was a member of the ski team and basketball team at the university, and also managed social events such as the annual medical ball.

He was assigned to Iskenderun State Hospital in compulsory service. Assoc. Prof. Dr., who served as the emergency manager. Ali Durmuş passed the General Surgery Department of Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital in the Medical Specialization Exam. Assoc. Prof. Dr. completed his specialization and became a specialist. Due to his success in his compulsory service, Ali Durmuş was appointed as assistant chief physician to the Oncology department at Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital.

Later, he was appointed as a training officer in the Department of General Surgery and Gastroenterology. He helped develop laparoscopic stomach and intestinal surgeries (sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, reflux, colon cancer, stomach cancer, etc.) in Turkey. Between 2002 and 2015, he trained dozens of assistants and helped them become general surgeons.

In 2015, he left his job in Okmeydanı and worked as Assistant Professor. He started working as a faculty member at Nişantaşı University.

Dr. Hidayet Çatal is a Diabetes and Obesity Surgery Specialist in Izmir, Turkey. He has over 30 years of experience in bariatric and metabolic surgery. He graduated from Izmir 9 Eylul University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his specialization in General Surgery at SSK Tepecik Training and Research Hospital.

He specialized in General Surgery at Ankara Training and Research Hospital between 2001 and 2006. He worked as a General Surgery Specialist at Ankara Training and Research Hospital between 2006 and 2008 and later at Ordu State Hospital between 2008 and 2013. He specializes in bariatric procedures such as Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, Full Gastric Bypass, Mini Bypass, and Type 2 Diabetes Surgery. He also offers non-surgical obesity treatments, including endoscopic gastric balloon and stomach filler procedures.

Dr. Kavak is accredited by the Turkish Surgical Association and has held a board qualification since 2008. He is an active member of several national surgical societies. He has published many national and international studies that are widely cited. His surgical skills also include laparoscopic oncology for colorectal, stomach, pancreas, and adrenal conditions, as well as endocrine, hernia, and advanced laser haemorrhoid surgeries.

Dr. Abdulkadir Bedirli completed his medical education at Istanbul University Istanbul Medical Faculty in 1988. He became a General Surgeon in 1997 and was appointed as Associate Professor in the Department of General Surgery at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 2005. He became a Professor in 2010.

In 2011, Dr. Bedirli completed the Robotic Surgery Certification Program in Strasbourg and became a console surgeon. He performed his first robotic surgery in the Department of General Surgery at Gazi University in the same year. Op. Dr. Necdet Derici was born in Konya Beyşehir in March 1971. He completed his primary school in Beyşehir. Then, he moved to Konya, Ereğli for his secondary and high school education. He graduated from Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1995. Between 1995 and 1999, he worked as an assistant doctor at Istanbul Training and Research Hospital. In his next career step, he joined Istanbul Training and Research Hospital as a General Surgery Specialist and worked from 2000 to 2009.
