Both fields attracted me already at the high school. My enthusiasm also lasted during my studies at the 1st Faculty of Medicine at the Charles University. After graduating from the university, I joined the Institute of Endocrinology in Prague. At the same time I trained at the Third Internal Clinic of the General University Hospital in Prague. Both institutions are highly specialized centres with a wide range of diagnoses. I had the best teachers. I very much appreciate the two foreign experiences, the internship at the University Clinic in Düsseldorf and at the St. Barts Clinic in London. In 2013, I defended my Ph.D. and after a short maternity break, I successfully passed the attestation in 2015.

Work is also my hobby. I follow the latest trends and participate in both domestic and foreign congresses and seminars.

I assess clients individually, I rely on a calm and friendly approach, a thorough case history, the search for connections and a comprehensive view.

In endocrinology, I monitor the state of hormones (chemical messengers) that are produced by the endocrine glands and circulate in the blood to regulate a large number of bodily functions. The disease comes when the production of a particular hormone is too high or too low. Furthermore, the field of endocrinology includes the care of reduced bone density - osteopenia or osteoporosis.

When caring for diabetic patients, the most important thing for a diabetic is to understand what is going on in his/her body and what results a good lifestyle and treatment might bring. I am open to discussions about various dietary measures, I try to motivate positively and to find the right solution for everyone individually, so that we can reach the target glycemic range.

Born in 1982 in Istanbul, Dr. Fatih Can Karaca completed his high school education at Bahçelievler Super High School in 2000 and then entered Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty, graduating in 2006. During his medical training, he was a key player on the faculty's basketball team, winning the 14 March Medical Tournament twice.

In 2007, he began his residency in General Surgery at Istanbul University, developing a keen interest in laparoscopic surgery. He contributed to Turkey's first laparoscopic metabolic surgery for Type 2 diabetes at the Special Metabolic Surgery Clinic in 2009. He continued his education in metabolic surgery at Universal Hospitals’ Taksim German Hospital in 2011 and completed his residency in General Surgery in 2012.

From 2012 to 2014, Dr. Karaca worked as a General Surgery Specialist at Kanuni Sultan Suleyman Training and Research Hospital, followed by a role at a Metabolic Surgery Clinic in Şişli from 2014 to 2017. He gained extensive experience in obesity surgery and the surgical treatment of diabetes during this period. In 2015, he became a lecturer at Istanbul Bilgi University, sharing his knowledge and experiences with younger colleagues, and he was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2016 and Associate Professor in 2021.

Dr. Karaca has held various positions as a General Surgery Specialist in different hospitals, where he established obesity clinics and performed numerous successful surgeries. Prof. Dr. Ayla Güven graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 1986 and completed her mandatory service at Ege University Chest Diseases Bornova Tuberculosis Dispensary. Following that, she started her specialization training in the Department of Child Health and Diseases at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine and became a specialist in 1993. After working as a specialist physician, she began her subspecialty training in Pediatric Endocrinology at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in September 2000 and became a Pediatric Endocrinology specialist in December 2002. In April 2003, she started working as an assistant professor at Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine and worked in the Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Department at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, USA, between May and November 2003. After returning to Turkey, she continued to work at Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine. This clinic was the first to offer Pediatric Endocrinology subspecialty training in the country. During her time there, one person became a Pediatric Endocrinology specialist. On March 13, 2006, she successfully passed the exam and received the title of Associate Professor. Since December 2006, she has been working at Göztepe Training and Research Hospital. In this hospital, she was appointed as the head of the Pediatric Endocrinology clinic in November 2008 and started providing Pediatric Endocrinology subspecialty training for the first time in the hospital in March 2009. Between 2009 and 2017, she trained five Pediatric Endocrinology specialists. Most of the physicians she currently provides subspecialty training to have gained academic titles as professors and associate professors. After working as a training instructor at Health Sciences University Zeynep Kamil Hospital for Children and Women from 2017 to 2021, she retired at her request from public service. Between 2021 and 2024, she worked as a Pediatric Endocrinology specialist at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Child Health and Diseases, at Istanbul Hospital.
