Dr. Francisco Castro Dominguez holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Santiago de Compostela.
As part of his studies, he completed an internship at the Humboldt University in Berlin, visiting the Charité Hospital. Years later, he became a specialist in rheumatology after completing a residency period at the Hospital del Mar i l'Esperanza in Barcelona, and completed advanced training in knee osteoarthritis and sports medicine at the Royal North Shore Hospital, University of Sydney, Australia.
He completed his studies with a Master's degree in Medical Management at the University of Barcelona and worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the Inflammation and Cartilage Research Unit at the Institut Hospital del Mar d'Investigacions Mèdiques.
Scientific work:
Currently, the doctor holds the position of Coordinator of the Osteoarthritis Working Group of the Spanish Society of Rheumatology (ARTROSER), collaborating as a researcher in several multidisciplinary projects aimed at studying the phenotyping of knee osteoarthritis, and as an advisor in institutional projects related to the formation of treatment protocols and care for patients with knee and hip osteoarthritis.
