Born in Ankara in 1974, Prof. Dr. M. Oner Şanlı completed his primary and secondary education at TED After graduating from Ankara College; He graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 1998 and received the title of “Doctor”. Next; In 1999, he started his medical specialty at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Urology. Actively working in all subfields of urology during his specialty training, which lasted approximately 5.5 years, Dr. Şanlı presented his dissertation entitled “Relationship of SLC34A2 Gene Located in the 4p15.3-4p1 Region with Testicular Microlithiasis” in December 2004 and was awarded the title of “Urology Specialist” as a result of his subsequent scientific research. Continuing his academic and surgical life at the institution where he completed his medical specialization, Dr. Şanlı successfully passed the European Board of Urology examination in 2008 and in June 2011, he was awarded the title of “Assistant Professor of Urology” based on the results of the academic assessment and professional examination of the Intercollegiate Council. After receiving the title of professor in July 2017, Şanlı served as a visiting professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center from September 2016 to January 2018. Since January 2018, he continues to work at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Department of Urology. In addition, Dr. Şanlı is known; He continues his extracurricular urology practice at Bahçelievler Memorial Hospital. Besides this, Dr. Şanlı won a uro-oncology training fellowship provided by a pharmaceutical company in 2005 and by taking this opportunity at the Department of Urology at the University of Michigan, he got the opportunity to study the application of the surgical technique “laparoscopy” in the field of urology. Subsequently, Dr. Şanlı had the opportunity to develop this technique at the Heilbronn University Urology Clinic in Heildelberg by receiving a training fellowship granted by the European Association of Urology in 2008. Dr. In addition to this development in the glorious professional field, in parallel with the concept of "scientist-surgeon" that has emerged in recent times, in addition to participating in basic medical research, especially in the sub-field of uro-oncology and clinical research in uro-oncology; has tried to act. Dr. Şanlı has been a participant in more than 90 articles published worldwide to date and is still actively continuing his academic life, especially in the field of uro-oncology and laparoscopic urology. He also served on the board of the Endourology Society and was the former editor of the Endourology Bulletin and former associate editor of the Turkish Journal of Urology.
