After arthroscopic rotator cuff tear repair surgeries in the shoulder, patients leave the hospital on the same day or the next day depending on their general health status. In order to restrict movement in the shoulder and protect the healing of the repaired tendon, a padded shoulder sling is usually required for 6 weeks. Patients are advised to start doing elbow and wrist exercises immediately while wearing the shoulder sling to prevent swelling and limitation of movement in the arm. On the 10th postoperative day, the sutures are removed and the patient is allowed to bathe freely.
