​Dr. Yaprak Kalkan is a distinguished periodontist and the founder of Smile Academy Clinic in Istanbul, Turkey. Born in Istanbul in 1988, she graduated from Kadıköy Anadolu Lisesi in 2006 and earned her dental degree from Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry in 2011. She pursued a doctorate in Periodontology at the same university, during which she conducted research on diabetic patients at Turku University in Finland. Before establishing Smile Academy, Dr. Kalkan gained experience at esteemed institutions such as Maslak Acıbadem Hospital. Her professional involvement includes serving in various capacities within the Turkish Dental Association (TDA), notably as Deputy Secretary General of the 25th International TDA Congress in 2019. She has been a member of the Community Oral and Dental Health Commission (2012-2016), the Young Dentists Commission (2016-2020), and, since 2018, a General Assembly Delegate at the Istanbul Chamber of Dentists.
